Surprisingly Easy Ways to Support Non-Drinkers During The Holidays

Drinking alcohol has become synonymous with holidays and parties in the United States but roughly 33% of Americans don’t drink boozy drinks. There are many reasons for people to be alcohol-free but the pressure to drink, especially around the holiday season, can be incredibly tough for many people and should be discussed more.

The goal of this blog post is to provide helpful resources for people wanting alcohol free things to drink or those wanting to host events with your sober friends and family present. There are countless alcohol-free options available, and we think all of them are great, some have more health benefits than others, but all provide a fantastic alternative to those looking to steer clear from alcohol.

We have tried to find an alcohol-free alternative for most of the popular drinks you can think of!

Curious Elixirs is a fantastic company that uses organic juices, herbs, spices, roots, barks, and botanicals to create unique alcohol-free mocktails for everyone to enjoy. They have a alcohol-free take on a negroni, spicy margarita, cucumber collins, aperol spritz, and a cherry chocolate old fashioned. With a wide variety of flavors, and more to come, there is a drink for everyone.

These mocktails come in classic wide necked beer bottles and are vegan, Whole30 compliant, and ship to every state in the US. The beer style, with the cocktail components makes this one of our favorite options.

recess-booze-free-drinks

Recess alcohol-free drinks are equivalent to your White Claw, Truly, or other hard seltzers. These are sparkling water drinks made with magnesium (lifts the mood and balances the mind by helping you produce more feel good chemicals like dopamine and serotonin, while also helping to hydrate you), american ginseng (boosts vitality, helps you focus), l-theanine (promotes relaxation) and lemon balm (supports equilibrium, helps you unwind) along with real fruit juices.

The current flavors available to buy are; blood orange, strawberry rose, black cherry, and peach ginger. Recess was started by three men concerned with the statistics showing stress in American people and they wanted to provide a healthy alternative to drink alcohol or coffee to cope.

Seedlip-Non-Alcoholic-Beverages

Seedlip is based on the distilled non-alcoholic remedies from The Art of Distillation written in 1651, and now repurposed to pioneer a new category of drinks for those who want to drink without drinking booze. Seedlip uses high quality ingredients from nature such as herbs, spices, peels, rinds, and barks that are blended and bottled in England. They recommended to always mix Seedlip with tonics, sodas, or as a base for drinks instead of sipped neat.

They currently offer three flavors; Garden 108 (notes of Peas & Hay with a complex herbal base of Spearmint, Rosemary & Thyme), Spice 94 (notes of All Spice Berries, Cardamon, Lemon, Grapefruit, Oak and Cascarilla) and Grove 42 (notes of Bitter Orange, Mandarin, Blood Orange, Lemongrass, and Ginger).

Those are some of our main picks but we want to provide as much of a comprehensive list as possible, so here are a handful of other contenders to think about! If there is something we didn’t mention this time, definitely let us know the brands you want to see represented!

Ghia Apéritif – This spirit-free tonic is inspired by the Mediterranean aperitivo culture and is crafted and formulated with natural juices, herbs, extracts, and botanicals.

Monday – This Southern California-based gin may be lacking alcohol, but it’s still full of spirit. The zero-alcohol gin is blended with juniper, natural botanicals, citrus, and spices.

Casamara Club – These bottles look identical to beer bottles but contain sparkling alcohol-free amaro club sodas, in a variety of flavors. This is a great pick if you don’t want anyone to notice that you aren’t drinking beer!

DRY Botanical Bubbly – This woman owned brand started during pregnancy when the founder wanted to enjoy drinks alongside everyone else but couldn’t. This led to her working with a range of chefs to create simple, four ingredient sparkling sodas with “culinary flavors”.

There are many ways to support the people in your life who are struggling with alcohol addiction, wanting to live sober, or even just really cut back on calories. If you yourself are struggling with any of those things, finding alcohol-free replacements is a big first step in making a change. Alcohol may be commonplace in American households and parties but that doesn’t have to be the case.

Remember that where you spend your money matters, and supporting the causes you believe in can be as simple as choosing which brands to spend your money on. The holidays are a wonderful time for most and small little things can make a world of difference to those around you.
